Under Argentina’s immigration law, one of the criteria that allows anirregular migrant to secure residency is the possession of a formal laborcontract—but, as we will see below, they must have a regular migrationstatus in order to secure such a contract. In other words, theyface an impossible situation under the law: as irregular migrants, theyneed formal work in order to be regularized, but they cannot accessformal work due to their irregular status.
