Este ensayo explora, en primer lugar, el concepto de interpretación y el lugar de la hermenéutica en la teoría literaria, centrándose en un análisis del reciente e iluminador libro En torno a la interpretación (2023), de Sultana Wahnón, particularmente en los pasajes dedicados a Roland Barthes y Pierre Bayard. El libro de Wahnón procura evidenciar la presencia de la hermenéutica literaria en autores que en general, y según la autora, equivocadamente son considerados como antihermenéuticos. Luego, sin dejar de acordar en muchos puntos con Wahnón, se toma cierta distancia de sus ideas, para pensar un más allá de la hermenéutica en Barthes, Bayard e incluso V. Shklovski, un más allá ubicado en la teoría de la lectura. Según esta idea, algunos críticos contemporáneos apostaron por una superación de la cultura del comentario propia de la hermenéutica para avanzar a una cultura retórica como afirmación de la singularidad de la literatura.
This essay first explores the concept of interpretation and the role of hermeneutics in literary theory, focusing on an analysis of the recent and iluminating book En torno a la interpretación (2023) by Sultana Wahnón, particularly the sections dedicated to Roland Barthes and Pierre Bayard. Indeed, Wahnón’s book seeks to highlight the presence of literary hermeneutics in authors who are generally, and according to her mistakenly, considered anti-hermeneutical. Then, while agreeing with Wahnón in many points, this essay will take some distance from her ideas to explore a beyond hermeneutics in Barthes, Bayard and even V. Shklvoski, a beyond situated within the theory of reading. According to this perspective, some contemporary critics have aimed to transcend the culture of commentary inherent to hermeneutics, in order to move toward a rhetorical culture as an affirmation of the singularity of literature.
