Obedientia y obsequium en la filosofía de Spinoza: sobre una sugestiva distinción conceptual entre el Tratado Teológico-Político y el Tratado Político

Este artículo se propone abordar un desplazamiento que opera en la filosofía de Spinoza y, específicamente, entre el Tratado teológico-político y el Tratado político; a partir de las nociones de obedientia y obsequium. El punto de partida es reconocer la trama argumentativa que hace posible establecer la distinción entre la obediencia y su fundamento teológico-político en la historia del Estado hebreo, y la necesidad de fundamentar un lazo común para pensar la democracia más allá de la escisión entre deseo y ley. Esta última reflexión, que Spinoza lleva a cabo en el inacabado Tratado político, adquiere un significado particular bajo la expresión obsequium, que suele traducirse como obediencia. Sin embargo, al inclinarse por este término, Spinoza parece indicar un significado más acorde con la ontología de la inmanencia y sus derivaciones políticas como potencia de lo común. Por esta razón, indagaremos sobre la riqueza semántica de obsequium en la tradición clásica para dilucidar las posibles influencias que habrían llevado a Spinoza a utilizar este término en particular.
This article aims to address a displacement that operates in Spinoza’s philosophy and, specifically, between the Theological-Political Treatise and the Political Treatise; based on the notions of obedientia and obsequium. The starting point is to recognize the argumentative plot that makes it possible to establish the distinction between obedience and its theological-political foundation in the history of the Hebrew State, and the need to find a common bond to think about democracy beyond the split between desire and law. This last reflection, which Spinoza carries out in the unfinished Political Treatise, acquires a particular meaning under the expression obsequium, which is usually translated as obedience. However, by leaning towards this term, Spinoza seems to indicate a meaning more in line with the ontology of immanence and its political derivations as a power of the common. For this reason, we will investigate the semantic richness of obsequium in the classical tradition to elucidate the possible influences that would have led Spinoza to use this particular term.
