Flourishing in Argentina: Evidence from the Global Flourishing Study (GFS) across socioeconomic groups and levels of religiosity

Using Wave 1 data from the Global Flourishing Study (GFS), this study examinedthe levels of well-being in multiple domains of flourishing and their variations acrossdemographic groups in Argentina (N=6,724). The results show that the mean flourishing levelof Argentine participants is above the pooled means across all 22 countries included in theGFS in the domains of psychological well-being, social well-being, and character & prosocialbehavior, but it is below the cross-national average in socioeconomic outcomes. In addition,the mean levels of flourishing in Argentina differ across groups with different levels ofreligiosity. For instance, the mean scores on multiple indicators of flourishing are higheramong Christian Argentinians than their non-religious counterparts. Moreover, the means onmultiple indicators of flourishing are also higher among those who attended religious servicesfrequently than those who never attended services. The results make a meaningfulcontribution to studies on flourishing in Argentina. The findings also provide intriguing pathsfor future research and highlight the importance of population-level monitoring of flourishingin Argentina.
