Este trabajo reflexiona críticamente sobre el impacto de la inteligencia artificial en la reproducción de desigualdades lingüísticas, con énfasis en las jerarquías entre lenguas y entre variedades lingüísticas en el contexto de la actual economía global de datos. Desde el cuestionamiento a la visión tecnocrática de la inteligencia artificial como herramienta neutral, el texto se detiene en la situación del español como lengua pluricéntrica y advierte que las decisiones técnicas y económicas vinculadas a estas tecnologías consolidan una visión jerárquica y homogénea del lenguaje que afecta el acceso pleno y equitativo a estos desarrollos. Finalmente, se subraya la necesidad de desentrañar y visibilizar las desigualdades, así como de promover una articulación entre lenguas y tecnología atenta a la diversidad y a los derechos lingüísticos que habilite la agencia de grupos históricamente marginados.
This paper critically reflects on the impact of artificial intelligence on the reproduction of linguistic inequalities, with an emphasis on hierarchies between languages and between linguistic varieties in the context of the current global data economy. Questioning the technocratic view of artificial intelligence as a neutral tool, the text focuses on the situation of Spanish as a pluricentric language and warns that the technical and economic decisions linked to these technologies consolidate a hierarchical and homogeneous view of language that affects full and equitable access to these developments. Finally, it emphasises the need to unravel and highlight inequalities, as well as to promote an articulation between languages and technology that is attentive to diversity and linguistic rights, thereby enabling the agency of historically marginalised groups.
