Descripción
Trabajo presentado al VIII International Symposium on Pear. Ferrara, Bologna, (Italia). 4-7 Septiembre, 2000
Orchard pesticide applications in the Rio Negro Valley are performed with high volumes of water varying from 2,000 to 4,000 L/ha for trellis and free standing trees, respectively. Volume rate reduction requires an increase in pesticide concentration to apply the same amount of active ingredient. The objective of this trial was to study the pesticide distribution in concentrated chemical applications. The treatments were (1) 2,200 l/ha at 1x, (2) 1,513 L/ha at 1.5 x and (3) 1,110 L/ha at 2x. All treatments had the same amount of product but dilution was different. Fluorescent tracer dye (Natrisol Sodium) was applied at 40 g/ha. The amount of deposit on leaves was not significantly different among treatments. Distribution was statistically different among treatments, the 2x concentration having the best performance. The high volume treatment distributed more product in the lower and middle portion of the canopy while all treatments distributed less product in the upper and interior part of the canopy. We conclude that it is possible to reduce the volume of water per spray increasing product concentration and the efficacy of pest control. Future work must emphasize the possibility of decreasing product concentration in order to apply less pesticide.
