Descripción
In grid-connected photovoltaic installations, an interaction is observed between the electricity distribution grid, photovoltaic generation, and domestic demand. Variations in instantaneous power demand versus photovoltaic generation result in both consuming energy from the grid and injecting excess into it. This introduces economic implications that affect the profitability of the investment, since the tariff schedules of national distributors compensate for energy injected into the grid at a lower price than that consumed, resulting in a financial deficit even when there is an energy excess. To analyze this dynamic, the case of a family home was studied. Measurements were made of the instantaneous power and energy demanded by the home, as well as measurements of the same parameters for a photovoltaic generation system. Temporal correlations between these parameters were established. With these data, the performance of a residential photovoltaic installation was determined, allowing for the calculation of the energy injected and consumed from the grid. This analysis makes it possible to more accurately quantify the economic savings and determine the appropriateness and payback period of the photovoltaic installation. The energy generated by the photovoltaic system (74.7 kWh) covered 13.8 % of the monthly demand, and while 75.2 % of that energy was self-consumed, the remainder (24.8 %) had to be fed into the grid.
