El presente estudio pretende establecer la prevalencia de consumo de bebidas alcohólicas en un grupo de jóvenes estudiantes, determinando el sexo y edad de comienzo de consumo, el tipo de be-bida, quienes llegaron a la ebriedad, si conocen los efectos nocivos del alcohol y la asociación entre el consumo de cigarrillos y alcohol. Se realizó un estudio epidemiológico observacional en el que se encuestaron a 1059 alumnos, de ente 14 y 20 años; de los cuales 47 % eran del sexo masculino y 53% del sexo femenino. Del total de la población, 69,5% de jóvenes consumían bebidas alcohólicas. El dato mas interesante fue que en el 45,7% la edad de comienzo del consumo en ambos sexos fue a los 15 ± 1 año y el 19,4% fue a los 14 ± 1 año. El 92,1% refirió beber en grupos y los lugares donde se lleva a cabo este consumo son en la gran mayoría en fiestas (53%). El tipo de bebida que mayormente consumen son: cerveza 53,9% y sidra 47% y solo el 14% mani-festaron haber llegado a la ebriedad al menos una vez. A su vez el 83,1% refirieron conocer los efectos nocivos que el alcohol genera en el organismo y dentro de estos las mujeres mas que los hombres. Cuando se analizo la relación entre el tabaco y el alcohol se observo que solo el 24% de los jóve-nes que consumían alcohol también tenían el hábito de fumar, con un mayor consumo por parte del sexo masculino.
The present study tries to establish the prevalence of alcoholic drinks consumption in a group of young students, determining the sex and age of consumption beginning, the type of drink, if they arri ved at the ebriedad, if they know the injurious effects of alcohol and asociation between the consump tion of cigarettes and alcohol. An epidemiologic observational study was made with 1059 students, of 14 to 20 years, of which 47% were of masculine sex and 53% of feminine sex. Of the total of the population, 69.5% of young people consumed alcoholic drinks. The interesting data was that in 45.7% the age of beginning of the consumption in both sexes was to the 15 ± 1 year and 19.4% was to the 14 ± 1 year. The 92.1% referred to drink in groups and the places where it is carried out this consumption are in the great majority in celebrations (53%). The types of drink that mainly consumed were beer 53.9% and cider 47%; and 14% at least once declared to have arrived at the ebriedad. As well 83.1% referred to know the injurious effects that the alcohol generates in the organism and within these the women more than men. When it was analyzed the relation between the tobacco and the alcohol was observed that only 24% of the young people who also consumed alcohol had the habit to smoke, with a greater consump tion on the part of masculine sex.
