The present study aimed to analyze the impact of a gamification-based teaching strategy on the level of engagement and academic self-efficacy among students in the Maternal-Child Nursing program at the Centro Universitario Gálvez. A mixed-method, preexperimental, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted. A teaching activity with gamification elements and applied to the entire group of students in classes, alternating with traditional classes. To verify progress toward achieving learning outcomes, pre- and post-tests were administered. For the quantitative study, the Argentine adaptation and validation of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale for students (UWES-S) develop ed by Medrano, Moretti, and Ortiz (2015) was applied. The qualitative approach involved an interview conducted and validated by the researcher. The results obtained from both the surveys and the interview provide evidence supporting the effectiveness of the intervention in increasing student engagement and self-efficacy. However, more sessions using this strategy are needed to demonstrate significant variance. This means that further research and testing of the use of gamification in learning applications is needed to immerse students in these tools.
