Descripción
The asphalt used in the road industry must possess the necessary properties to absorb the deformations generated by the pavement under traffic. In this regard, the major issue observed is oxidation caused by the loss of volatile compounds. This results from exposure to high temperatures during the mixing and production of the asphalt mixture and, on the other hand, from progressive deterioration due to environmental conditions while in service. The reduction of its lighter compounds leads to cracking and deterioration of the asphalt layer. Furthermore, waste generation remains an unresolved issue. Recycled Tire Rubber (RTR) from the automotive industry, which has reached the end of its life, has become common as an asphalt modifier in high proportions (percentages exceeding 10 %). This study aims to evaluate asphalt modified with RTR in increasing proportions and analyze the samples' behavior under short-term and long-term aging conditions to consider the material's evolution. In the results obtained, the influence of the aging of the samples can be observed as the proportion of RTR is increased according to the results of FTIR and complex shear modulus. An increase in the softening point and the fatigue parameter is also observed with the addition of the residue.
